Hey, some impressions on Threads!
Back in April, Meta announced the long-anticipated, official rollout of ads in Threads Feed. As expected, the introduction of ads within the Threads app has been slow. But we’re finally seeing some signs.
Spotted in Ads Manager
I performed a breakdown by placement recently and finally… THREE whole impressions for an ad in the Threads Feed.
What’s funny and potentially important is that this is an Awareness campaign with a tiny audience. I’m not getting any impressions on Threads for my other campaigns with far greater spend. It’s possible the early impressions are reserved for Awareness.
It’s not much, but any impressions at all is still a development.
As a User
We know that this rollout is going to be slow as Meta is careful about this from a user experience perspective.
I have noticed some ads in the mobile app as a user, but even that has been very limited.
I will see only one ad for a single scroll. Refresh to see another ad during another scroll. But it’s not one ad every few posts, like on Facebook and Instagram.
Yet, of course. That will change. I also haven’t seen ads on the desktop version of Threads so far.
What to Expect
So yes, it’s happening. Ads have arrived on Threads. But don’t expect much of an impact for a while. You probably won’t see many ads as a user while Meta rolls this out slowly.
While the official rollout started earlier than I expected, I still contend that we won’t see much of an impact until 2026. Meta’s statements have been consistent with that projection.
And that means you’re unlikely to see much as an advertiser, too. But eventually, that will change.
What are you seeing?
