Vestiaire Collective has expanded U.S. CEO Samina Virk’s remit to also oversee marketing at the luxury fashion resale platform. She succeeds Marie-Christin Oebel, who served as CMO since 2023, WWD first reported.

Adding CMO back to her title, Virk steps into familiar territory. She joined Vestiaire Collective in 2014 as its first U.S. president and CMO, leading the company’s entry into the U.S. market. She has a background in marketing, having served as CMO at personal shopping and styling brand Threads Styling and holding marketing leadership roles at eBay and Target. She rejoined Vestiaire Collective in 2023.

As CMO, Virk will oversee global brand and creative, social media, PR, and influencer marketing in the U.S., which now accounts for 20% of the company’s overall business.

She will report to Fanny Moizant, president and co-founder of Vestiaire Collective.

Bridging the CEO-CMO Gap

Streamlining CEO and CMO duties under one leader could help Vestiaire Collective align marketing goals with overall company strategy.

ADWEEK previously reported that misalignment between CEOs and CMOs increased 20% between 2023 and 2025, as CEOs lack clarity on the CMO’s remit and marketing remains disconnected from company finances. The CMO title is also fading, now used by just 40% of marketing leaders at Fortune 500 companies.

“To some business leaders and board directors, the title conveys a narrow focus on creative or brand, which doesn’t fully capture the complexity of what these marketers are being asked to do,” Kristin Deutmeyer, a partner at executive search firm Heidrick & Struggles, told ADWEEK last month.
