Getting Ready
To prep the puzzles (below), I began by printing themĀ on card stockĀ to give them extra durability.
Then, I ran them through my laminator andĀ cut along the dotted lines to separate the pieces.
As I cut apart each of the 24 puzzles, I slid them into separate snack size zip bags so kids could easily grab a complete set.
Thatās it!Ā The prep took just a few minutes to complete.
CCVC Puzzle Time
My students and I have been working onĀ blends or digraphs, so they were ready to tackle both CCVC words at the same time.
I spread four of theĀ CCVC puzzles out on a table at a time so the kids could find the matching pieces.
As we went along, I talked about the pictures with the kids and let them know the names of some of the trickier words like clam. It was great to seeĀ kids recognize the blends we have been learning likeĀ āfrā inĀ frog.
My studentsĀ lovedĀ solving the puzzles and sounding out the words at the end. Such a simple way to reinforce their learning.
